Our Visit to Story Land Recap & Ticket GIVEAWAY!

My daughter recently turned four! Before her birthday, we kept throwing around different celebration ideas and party themes. Should we have a cookout in our yard and have a kiddie pool, jumpie house etc? Do we hold off-site at a  type of kiddie playland? All great options… options we’ve done for previous parties . This year we wanted to do something a little different. Since she had been asking to go on vacation or as she calls it, “Bacation”, we decided to go on a long-weekend getaway to celebrate her birthday. But, where do we go? Date Day Mommy Guilt

I'm out with my husband for a much needed date day! We are at Fenway Park, the home of our favorite baseball team, The Boston Red Sox! I'm having such a great time...but I feel so guilty for not spending this beautiful Saturday with our baby girl.  I really only have the weekends to spend quality time with her. Then I feel guilty for not being completely present on our date. We don't have date nights that often and I was so excited about today. So, why am I feeling this way? This must be the "mommy guilt" I recently read about on parenting.com . The article was entitled " Kiss Mommy Guilt Goodbye ". I guess it (mommy guilt) is completely normal! Many things such as yelling, having to work outside the home, even scheduling "me" time and date nights can spur this awful feeling on. According to this article, experts encourage tuning it out. Ok. These are Black Bean Burgers? They Are Delish!

Cheeseburgers are my weakness!   I would pick a cheeseburger over a steak, shrimp or lobster any day. If you asked me one year ago if I’d ever eat a veggie black bean burger, my response would have been “no way!”. The thought of my husband eating a turkey burger, never mind a veggie burger was laughable. One time I used ground turkey in a lasagna recipe. My husband loved it but then when I told him, he said “why did you have to tell me?”. Although to try to eat a little bit healthier, we have been cutting back on red meat and have been using a lot of beans, soy “burger” and ground turkey in recipes that call for ground beef. I decided to give black bean burgers a try. I tried one black bean burger recipe but it was too dry. We tried another that called for including chopped up mushrooms in the mix but I didn’t like the chewiness of the mushrooms. I have tweaked the recipes and have come up with one that is so good.
