Potty-Training Tips from Other Moms

  •  Twist timer - let them do it and say it’s an alarm for trying to go potty. It becomes a game. Worked for us in less than a week!
  •  Stickers- a sticker for each time they potty OR for each day w/ no accidents. Start with one for each time and work up to one a day. For each week (or 5-7 stickers) reward them, a lollipop, an ice pop, picnic, watching planes at the airport, etc.
  •  With boys, use cheerios/fruit loops as targets, this also helps with teaching to count!
  •  For boys, a lady told me to try a coffee can (metal) on bricks or boards, leaving space between them, and let him aim into the can. I thought she was CRAZY, but I got frustrated and tried it. He finally got it! When he peed in it, the funny noises made potty time lots of fun! It can be messy if he gets the giggles, but IT WORKS!
  •  Let them go with no diaper. Just a long shirt to cover the jewels, it allows them to feel the sensation and helps them to realize what the feeling means. ~ From Tonya M.
