How to Make An Indoor "Sand" & Sensory Box

Suggested by another Family Made Simple mom, I made my preschooler an indoor "sand"/sensory box. 
 
Here's how to make your own indoor sensory box:
  • Decorate the outside of a Rubbermaid under bed storage container with lots of stickers. 
  • Fill it with rice and small elbow mac (for texture).
  • Find a bunch of experimentation tools such as scoops, funnels, empty/dry water bottles and spoons 
  • Place a large blanket underneath for quick cleanup.  
My child even enjoyed taking off her shoes and standing in the box. She got a kick - no pun intended- out of how it felt on her bare feet.
Your child will spend hours using his/her imagination while playing with this truly inexpensive "toy".

Love Pizza? Federal Hill Brick Oven Pizza Review & GIVEAWAY!

Sometimes, this mama needs a break from cooking!   So, on Saturdays, we typically will go out to eat. We have the good intention of trying new restaurants but after a few rounds of “where should we go?..I don’t care” (while driving around aimlessly) we usually end up at a local chain restaurant.  Now, don’t get me wrong. I love chains every now and then but really prefer to eat a fresh, home cooked, non cookie-cutter meal. This past Saturday, we went about our restaurant outing a little differently. Date Day Mommy Guilt

I'm out with my husband for a much needed date day! We are at Fenway Park, the home of our favorite baseball team, The Boston Red Sox! I'm having such a great time...but I feel so guilty for not spending this beautiful Saturday with our baby girl.  I really only have the weekends to spend quality time with her. Then I feel guilty for not being completely present on our date. We don't have date nights that often and I was so excited about today. So, why am I feeling this way? This must be the "mommy guilt" I recently read about on parenting.com . The article was entitled " Kiss Mommy Guilt Goodbye ". I guess it (mommy guilt) is completely normal!
