Why Family Made Simple

The idea of starting a Family Made Simple Facebook page and blog all started a few weeks ago. It was a typical Friday morning…HECTIC!

I don’t know about what takes place in your house, but trying to get everyone dressed, fed, lunches made, bags packed and get out the door on time is a struggle. My 3 year old did not want to turn off “Arthur”.  When I turned the t.v. off, she had a complete melt down, laid on the floor and then refused to get up to walk out the door.

You’re probably thinking “well, why not pick her up?”. Well, I had her backpack over one shoulder, my work bag over the other, a coffee in one hand  and the keys and her lunchbox in the other. I know I’m super mom, but not that SUPER!

I finally coaxed her out the door. THANK GOODNESS.. One point for mom! However, now, she gave me a hard time getting into her car seat (Please tell me this is typical 3 year old behavior!). I found myself bribing her “Get into your car seat and you can listen to your Dora the Explorer CD”.  I think the point I won, was just taken away for bribing a 3 year old.  Oh well, whatever works right? I’m going to be late!

I drop her off at daycare and am on my way to work. I finally get a sip of my coffee and think “there must be a better way!!!”

The idea of Family Made Simple popped into my head. There are billions of moms (and dads) going through the same thing as me. Maybe they have some tips and suggestions that they’d be willing to share.

When I was pregnant, I joined an awesome online community. Soon-to-be-moms, would write in with questions and concerns. Others would answer. It was great!

This is my hope for Family Made Simple!

  3. I just discovered your blog through I Can Teach My Child, and when I saw this post I felt like it could have been written by me on any given weekday. I have a 3 year old daughter as well and definitely experience this kind of morning more often than I'd like. It certainly makes me feel better knowing that I'm not alone :)
